Dr. Joel A. Weddington is an orthopedic surgeon and Qualified Medical Evaluator with more than 30 years of experience in orthopedic trauma, musculoskeletal medicine, and disability evaluation. He is well known for his clinical expertise, thoughtful reporting, and dedication to patient care—particularly in complex industrial and orthopedic injury cases.

Dr. Weddington earned his Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Texas A&M University in 1979 and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1983. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, followed by a trauma fellowship and a faculty appointment as Clinical Instructor at the University of California, San Francisco General Hospital.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Weddington maintained a longstanding private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, with offices in San Francisco, Oakland, and Hayward. He has cared for thousands of patients while also performing Qualified Medical Evaluations and contributing to the resolution of complex workers’ compensation and disability cases.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, California Orthopedic Association, American Academy of Pain Medicine, and the Industrial Claims Association. He also holds active certification as a Qualified Medical Evaluator in the state of California.
