What is a QME?
A Qualified Medical Evaluator is a physician who has been certified by the State of California to perform independent examinations of injured workers. These are required when there is a dispute between the worker’s claimed injury and the employer. QMEs are able to review the cases and help determine the course of treatment and ultimately disability rating among other factors to ensure that the injured worker receives appropriate treatment and that the employers are protected from inaccurate claims.
How do I Become a California QME?
- We will guide you through the process of becoming a QME and training you to perform QME examinations and report-writing efficiently.
- Examinations are offered twice a year to become certified. We will aid in test preparation so that you can start the work as quickly as possible.
- We have locations throughout California to maximize your growth.
- We can work with your schedule to ensure your time is utilized fully—whether you can perform evaluations on a monthly or weekly basis. Most physicians can find a half a day a week to start a QME practice.

OrthoLegal was designed to make medicolegal work appealing to busy physicians, and offer all the necessary services to streamline the paperwork.
- Because OrthoLegal is physician-owned, it is not backed by venture capital or private equity groups, and can therefore run more efficiently. Every team member in our process is essential and working hard towards streamlining your practice.
