Amar A. Patel, MD is a board- certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in treatment of the hand, wrist, and elbow. He grew up in Fullerton, CA and is excited to provide his medical services to the Orange County area. Prior to joining SCOS, Dr. Patel practiced for several years in Chicago.

Dr. Patel completed a combined BS/MD program, receiving his undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University and his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University. During medical school, he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital, one of the busiest adult and pediatric trauma centers in the world. He subsequently completed his hand and upper extremity surgery fellowship at the world- renowned Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center. During his training, Dr. Patel authored numerous journal articles, scientific abstracts, and textbook chapters. He has presented his work at the national level and international levels and is actively involved in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has also provided orthopaedic care to local hospitals in Managua, Nicaragua.

Dr. Patel’s practice includes all aspect of the hand, wrist, and elbow, and he treats both children and adults. He has specialized training in arthroscopy, microsurgery, nerve and tendon reconstruction, small joint replacement, sports injuries, wide- awake hand surgery, and work- related injuries. His goal is to provide personalized care to each patient by using the most effective and current treatments possible. Dr. Patel speaks Spanish and Gujarati.

In his free time, Dr. Patel also helps run “The Fantasy Doctors”, the largest physician- led sports media and fantasy sports group focusing on sports injuries to professional athletes including the NFL, NBA/ WNBA, MLB, NFL, USL college sports, and international sports.
