Michael J. Milne Sr., MD, MBA is a California Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME), board-certified orthopedic surgeon, and veteran medicolegal expert who has performed more than 2,500 independent evaluations and reviews, testified in over 200 depositions, and completed more than 9,000 orthopedic surgical procedures.

With more than 17 years of orthopedic experience, he is recognized for delivering objective, evidence-based opinions and highly defensible medicolegal analyses.

Dr. Milne is fellowship-trained in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery from the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado, widely regarded as one of the premier sports medicine fellowships in the United States. There he received advanced training in the evaluation and treatment of complex shoulder, knee, and sports-related injuries.

Following graduation from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Milne completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and went on to build a distinguished clinical career spanning 17 years in private practice. During that time, he performed more than 9,000 surgical procedures, developing extensive expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries in injured workers, athletes, and adults with degenerative conditions, trauma, and disorders affecting the shoulder, knee, and upper and lower extremities.

He was voted into St Louis Magazine’s annual Best Doctors list by his peers 9 times in a row. He holds an MBA from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, winning the Dean Patrick Harper Leadership Award as voted by his peers.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Milne served as Head Team Physician and Orthopedic Surgeon for the St. Louis Cardinals MLB Baseball organization, providing orthopedic care for professional athletes at both the Major and Minor League levels. His experience caring for elite athletes, combined with decades of surgical practice and medicolegal work, provides a unique perspective in the evaluation of orthopedic injury claims.

Throughout his career, Dr. Milne has performed more than 2,500 independent medical evaluations, medicolegal reviews, and expert consultations, and has provided testimony in over 200 depositions within the Missouri and Illinois legal systems. He has also participated extensively in trial preparation for complex orthopedic and personal injury litigation.

Today, Dr. Milne focuses his practice on Qualified Medical Evaluations, Agreed Medical Evaluations, Independent Medical Evaluations, expert witness services, and complex orthopedic record reviews. He is known for delivering objective, evidence-based opinions, comprehensive analyses, and clear, defensible reports that assist attorneys, claims professionals, employers, and injured workers in resolving complex orthopedic disputes.
