Dr. Michael J. Milne is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with expertise in sports medicine, shoulder and knee surgery, and orthopedic healthcare innovation. With a career spanning over two decades, Dr. Milne combines clinical excellence with executive leadership to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered musculoskeletal care.
A graduate of UT Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Milne completed his orthopedic surgery residency and general surgery internship at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he trained at leading institutions including Parkland Memorial Hospital, Scottish Rite Hospital, and Dallas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Milne went on to complete a highly competitive sports medicine fellowship at the world-renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado, where he honed his expertise in complex shoulder and knee injuries.
Beyond the operating room, Dr. Milne earned his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a double major in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship. He was elected to the Dean’s Student Board of Advisors and honored with the Dean Patrick Harker Leadership Award—reflecting his exceptional ability to lead and innovate in both medicine and business.
Dr. Milne has served in multiple clinical and leadership roles throughout his career. He was Head Team Physician and Orthopedic Surgeon for the St. Louis Cardinals, overseeing care for both Major and Minor League athletes between 2014 and 2017. His work with professional sports organizations, combined with years of private practice in Missouri and beyond, has positioned him as a trusted expert in orthopedic and sports-related care.
As a founder and CEO of several orthopedic ventures—including Motion Orthopaedics and Michael J. Milne, MD LLC—Dr. Milne has brought cutting-edge orthopedic care to thousands of patients. His entrepreneurial endeavors have included the development of state-of-the-art facilities with integrated imaging, surgical, and rehabilitation services. He has also served as a Development Partner at SurgCenter Development, helping expand outpatient surgical services across the Midwest and Western U.S.
