Somayeh Fahim Nia, MD, MPH is a physician specializing in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, with a strong background in internal medicine, public health, and clinical research. Dr. Fahim Nia earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in Iran, where she also completed a doctoral dissertation examining the epidemiology of end-stage renal disease in hemodialysis patients. Early in her career, she practiced medicine extensively in both rural and urban underserved communities in Iran, providing comprehensive primary care, urgent care, emergency medicine, trauma management, and occupational health services. Her work included performing employee medical evaluations and managing workplace-related health concerns, including exposure-related conditions.

After relocating to the United States, Dr. Fahim Nia earned a Master of Public Health from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, strengthening her expertise in population health, preventive medicine, and environmental health. She subsequently completed an Internal Medicine residency in the Primary Care track at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, New York as well as an Occupational and Environmental Medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Fahim Nia has also developed extensive experience in clinical research and regulatory science. She has held research and safety-focused roles at Mount Sinai Health System, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Technical Resources International, and the National Institutes of Health. Her work has included coordinating clinical trials, overseeing safety and pharmacovigilance activities, managing Data and Safety Monitoring Boards, and evaluating adverse events—experience that informs her clinical approach to exposure assessment, toxicologic risk evaluation, and occupational disease prevention.
