Dr. Yolanta Petrofsky is a highly experienced, board-certified Occupational and Environmental Medicine Physician with a distinguished career spanning over two decades. She is also a Certified FAA Aviation Medical Examiner and a Qualified Medical Examiner (QME). Dr. Petrofsky is committed to promoting workplace safety, health, and wellness, with a specialization in preventing, assessing, and reducing workplace hazards across various industries.
Dr. Petrofsky’s career began as an aerospace medicine physician and flight surgeon for the United States Air Force, where she gained specialized expertise in hyperbaric medicine, international travel medicine, and expeditionary medicine. After completing her medical degree at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and an internal medicine internship at West Suburban Hospital, Dr. Petrofsky further honed her expertise with a Fellowship in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Harvard University, alongside earning a Master in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health.
With more than 24 years of experience, Dr. Petrofsky has worked extensively in occupational safety and health management, both domestically and internationally, providing medical support and coordinating care in emergency and high-risk environments. Her global experience has given her a unique perspective on workplace safety practices and exposures to infectious and airborne chemical agents in diverse settings.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Petrofsky has served as a Medical Consultant to NASA and as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, further showcasing her expertise in both the medical and academic realms. She has held leadership roles as the Occupational and Employee Health Medical Director for hospital systems in the North Bay and Truckee NorCal region, where she oversees health and safety initiatives for healthcare workers.
Dr. Petrofsky is passionate about supporting the aviation community as a Designated Senior Aviation Medical Examiner, where she plays a pivotal role in ensuring the health and safety of pilots and aviation professionals. Her services also extend to Fit-for-Duty Evaluations, Independent Medical Examinations (IME), Qualified Medical Examinations (QME), and State Disability Benefits (SIBTF) evaluations, making her a sought-after expert for medical/legal assessments.
